Introduction to GSA Certified Safe and Vault Training
|
The General Services Administration (GSA), in conjunction with the Interagency Committee on Security
Equipment (IACSE), Storage Equipment and Locking Systems (SEALS) Subcommittee, has developed a program to train safe
and vault technicians in working on GSA approved security equipment. The objective of the program is to establish
minimum standards of training in these areas, and to certify those students who meet those standards.

The training covers:

- Identification
- Servicing
- Opening and Repairing
- Preventive Maintenance and Periodic Inspection of
- GSA-approved Containers
- GSA-approved Vault Doors
- Locks on GSA-approved Containers and Doors
- Federal specifications for the locks, containers, and vault doors
- Regulations requiring their use

GSA certified safe and vault technicians must be trained and must pass written and practical examinations. Technicians
may only be certified by GSA approved training institutions.
