Weapons Storage Containers

GSA approved Class 5 weapons containers are authorized for storage of small amounts of Risk Category II, III, and IV Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E).  They are manufactured in accordance with Federal Specification AA-C-2859.  There is also a Class 5-W drawer-type weapons container approved and labeled specifically for weapons storage in accordance with Federal Specification AA-F-358K.  GSA approved weapons containers are not approved for storage of classified information.

All new GSA approved weapons containers must use an FF-L-2937 mechanical lock for the storage of AA&E.  Existing GSA approved weapons containers may continue to use an UL 768, Group 1 mechanical combination lock for the storage of AA&E.  If the existing UL 768, Group 1 lock fails, or requires replacement, it must be replaced with a lock meeting FF-L-2937.  These containers are available with either a pullout rifle cart, with a capacity of 32 rifles, or weapon drawers having dividers for storage of up to 360 weapons.  There are also different configurations available for a combination of rifles and handguns.

Review the Federal Qualified Products List QPL-AA-C-2859-5 to see which manufacturers' products meet federal specifications for weapons containers.  Please note that per ISOO Notice 2014-02, ALL "GSA Approved" security containers and vault doors MUST BE PROCURED through GSA Global Supply.
