The EXWC Shore Technical Department (Shore) provides research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E), expert in-service engineering, and life-cycle management for shore domains, including Utilities, Energy, Facility Systems, Environmental Security, and Cyber Security/Cyber Engineering management to enhance and ensure warfighter readiness.
Departmental expertise includes specialized and standard shore facilities, equipment, and systems; explosion effects; Petroleum, Oil, Lubricants (POL); cathodic protection, material science, energy technology and integration; critical power, mobile utility support equipment (MUSE); environmental restoration and compliance ensuring warfighter health; oil spill response; living marine resources; operational technology; Department of Defense (DoD) Locks, and control systems cybersecurity engineering. Shore has technical warrant holders in boilers, unfired pressure vessels, vertical transportation equipment, trackage, POL, and dry docks (mechanical) and explosive effects.
The Shore Department operates unique facilities such as the Microgrid Test Bed; Control Systems Test Bed; Chemistry and Materials Labs; DoD Locks Security Testing Facilities; and Mobile Utility Service Equipment facilities.
