The Mobile Utilities Support Equipment (MUSE) Program is an interim solution to a long-term requirement, providing temporary utility support until permanent energy utility solutions can be planned and programmed.
MUSE CORE SUPPORT MISSIONS INCLUDE:
Cold Iron Support: Provides direct utility support for U.S. Navy vessels and Fleet operation when in-place services have insufficient capacity, are nonexistent, or uneconomical.
Facility Support: Provides direct support for shore installations where in-place utility infrastructure is unable to meet system demands due to temporary overloads, increased mission tempo, or changes to facility planning and programming until utility requirements can be satisfied through normal programming.
Contingency Response, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Recovery: Provides support of shore installations during unforeseen utility emergencies resulting from natural disasters and unexpected equipment breakdowns while interim repair or replacement of failed utilities and/or distribution is performed.
Expeditionary Support: Support expeditionary military operations as required.
As Directed by Higher Authority: Support other short-term requirements of both federal and non-federal activities as directed by the Secretary of the Navy, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Joint Chiefs of Staff.
