The Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC) Shore Technical Department (Shore) provides research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E), in-service engineering and life-cycle management for shore domains, including Utilities, Energy, Facility Systems, Environmental Resilience, and Cyber Security/Cyber Engineering management.
Departmental expertise includes specialized and standard shore facilities, equipment, and systems; explosion effects; Petroleum, Oil, Lubricants (POL); energy technology and integration; mobile utility services and engineering (MUSE); environmental restoration; shore environmental compliance; oil spill response; living marine research; operational technology; and cyber engineering for control systems.
The Shore Department operates unique facilities such as the Microgrid Test Bed; Control Systems Test Bed; Chemistry, Materials, and Environmental Labs; DoD Locks Security Testing Facilities; and Mobile Utility Service Equipment facilities.
