Command Master Chief Martin T. Laurie is a native of Irving, New York. Laurie enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1993. Upon completion of Construction Mechanic "A" school in Port Hueneme, California, he was assigned to Naval Air Facility, Adak, Alaska.
In August 1995, Laurie was transferred to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he served as field crew for the Public Works Department.
After Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Laurie transferred to Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California, to complete "C" school and then served on board Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4. During his time with NMCB-4, Laurie deployed to Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Fleet Support Billet as homeport expeditor.
In February 1999, Laurie transferred to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2 to serve as maintenance supervisor. In March 2002, he reported to NMCB-5 and deployed to Spain, Kuwait, Okinawa, and Thailand. Upon completion of his tour, Laurie transferred to Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California as an instructor, phase head and school director.
In May 2008, Laurie transferred to Naval Special Warfare Development Group as the maintenance supervisor. In September 2011, he reported onboard First Naval Construction Division as the material, maintenance, and management program manager. In August 2013, he was assigned as the Command Master Chief at Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California. He reported to Naval Base Ventura County as the Command Master Chief February 2016. In December of 2019 he was the Command Master Chief of NMCB 5. After NMCB 5 he became the Command Master Chief of ACB 2 in June of 2022 until its decommissioning.
Laurie is a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and completed the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and CMC/COB Course July 2013. He has an Associate's Degree in Electrical Mechanical Technologies.
He became NAVFAC EXWC’s Command Master Chief June 2023.
