S&G 2740B Mounted Electromechanical Combination Lock

The Sargent & Greenleaf Model 2740B electromechanical combination lock has been
approved under Federal Specification
FF-L-2740B, Locks, Combination, Electromechanical.
The S&G Model 2740B lock is available from the DLA Land and Maritime and GSA Advantage.

The two main differences between the S&G Model 2740B lock and its predecessor are that the S&G Model 2740B lock does not use a setup module,
and you only have to make one revolution between each number when dialing the combination.
There is a "111" sticker on the lock to remind users.
The dialing sequence of the S&G Model 2740B lock is left-right-left-right, however,
the dial can be rotated more than one revolution for entry of any combination number in case you overshoot the desired number.

This lock is powered by a main battery (CR123A lithium camera-type), and also houses a long-life backup battery (CR2450 coin cell). Both batteries are on the underside of the lock cover.

S&G 2740 Mounted Combination Lock
The Sargent & Greenleaf Model 2740 electromechanical combination lock was approved under Federal Specification
FF-L-2740A, Locks, Combination, Electromechanical.
This lock was also known as the "Model S&G 2740A" lock.
The S&G Model 2740 was only available through a Sargent & Greenleaf distributor, and never was available from DLA or GSA Advantage.

Operation of the S&G Model 2740 lock is much like the operation of their S&G 2937 mechnical lock.
The dialing sequence is left-right-left-right, with at least four complete revolutions to the first number, stopping on the
third rotation on the second number, and stopping the second rotation on the third number.
However, unlike the mechanical lock, the dial can be rotated more than the minimum number of rotations for entry of any combination number in case you overshoot the desired combination number.

A setup module is used to calibrate, program, and troubleshoot the S&G 2740.
Only a properly trained technician should connect a setup module to your lock. A single module may be used on any number of locks.
